Chop Wood; Carry Water

Contradictory messages of how to exist, make it seemingly impossible to win womanhood. Trying to be sexy, cool, strong, feminine, delicate, resilient, poised, graceful, smart, opinionated, and reserved, all at once, while keeping the floor swept and everyone happy is confusing and exhausting. The bar for a contemporary woman is resting on an exceptionally high peg, and doesn't seem to waver. There are so many roles we slip into as women. Over the course of my years, I have been many different things for many different people. Now, I just want to be me. Keep wading. Keep chopping.
