I wonder if memories that predate conscious cognition feel more potent because they are stored in the body rather than the brain. Like trauma- our response to a place we don’t actually remember- is so deeply moving, we feel anchored to time and place though skin, bones and blood. This is how I felt when I went back here. Back to John Brown Hut. Somewhere over the rainbow. In the middle of fucking nowhere. And everywhere….. absolutely everywhere inside my skin.
